7. MSD Interface
Racelogic multiple spark discharge (MSD) traction control works with the crank signal
feeding the MSD unit. Usually there will be two wires from the crank sensor to the
MSD unit, one will be connected to GND and the other will carry the crank signal,
See Diagram 14.
Diagram 14 – Signals To An MSD Unit
7.1 Connecting the MSD Cut
The signal wire feeding the MSD unit should be cut and the Traction Control Ignition
cut interface should be connected as in Diagram 15.

We highly recommend that the traction control should be interfaced with the car using
connectors so that the car can easily be returned to run as standard. This can be
done using a ‘bullet’ type connector.
• Cut the signal wire on the crank sensor at a convenient position.
• Remake the connection with connectors.
• Connect the appropriate connector to the traction control wiring to connect the
traction control.
7.2 RPM
The RPM signal will be taken from inside the MSD, so no extra connections will need
to be made.
NOTE - The cylinders value in the traction control may need to adjusted to get the
correct value.
